About the HBCU Basketball League
The Historically Black Colleges & Universities Basketball League is a groundbreaking professional basketball league that celebrates the talent, heritage, and excellence of athletes from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Launching its inaugural season in 2026, The HBCUBL is the first professional basketball league in U.S. history exclusively featuring athletes who currently attend, will be attending, or have attended an HBCU. With the league headquartered in Houston, Texas, the HBCUBL is committed to providing a platform for players 17 years and older to showcase their skills, gain college and professional exposure, and participate in a vibrant, community-oriented sports environment.
